Long Eared Owlets (Limited Edition Print)
(Asio otus)
• Struck to the heart and saturated with a simple joy •
Inhabiting the woodland edge, long eared owls hunt over open ground but roost and nest within the densest, darkest stands of trees. A nocturnal owl, and a specialised predator, their diet focuses almost entirely on small rodents, especially voles. They utilise nests that are built by other animals, particularly those built by corvids, and regular roosts are often shared by several long-eared owls at once. These owls are not strongly territorial and are partially migratory, so that they are sometimes characterized as “nomadic. Strong declines in number have been detected for this owl in several parts of its range.
Limited edition fine art giclée print produced in Australia by the artist using the highest quality archival paper (Hahnemühle German Etching), inks and processes. Each print is hand signed and numbered by Natalie.

ABOUT THIS PIECE
These long eared owlets captured my heart as soon as I saw their sweet faces, inquisitive gaze, and improbably delightful fluffy feathered crown. This piece was the start of The Silent Flight collection, igniting my passion for capturing these gorgeous creatures in pigment on paper. You are wandering through the trees, listening intently to the sounds of bird and leaf, breathing in earthy growth and decay, dappled sunlight flickering through the canopy and warming your skin in delicious increments. You feel yourself under the gaze of another, and at first you can’t see anything. The slight movement of an inquisitive face catches your eye - “oh hello, and whooo are you?”
The name of this piece was inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver, who wrote many words about owls, their at once mysterious and wholly grounded nature, and connection to all facets of the web of life.
I am honoured to share this elegant piece with you to frame behind glass and hang in a special place in your home. I hope it inspires heartfelt connection and compassion each time you pass by.
Reproduced on luscious Hahnemühle German Etching paper using archival inks, this museum-quality giclée print looks like an original painting.
The intricate process I use to produce these prints allows for every pencil stroke to be seen - each reproduction showing as much detail and depth as the original piece, perfectly capturing the artistic process, intention, and intimate connection that grounds my work.
PS: You’re purchasing the print only - images with mats and frames are guides only inspiration for how this beauty will look in your home and heart!
