ABOUT THIS PIECE

Barn owls in flight are stunning to behold. At once it is clear why so much poetry and prose calls to mind these creatures with moon faces and obsidian eyes, as though lightly dusted with earthy ochres and sprinkled with stars.

The name of this piece was inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver, who wrote many words about owls, their at once mysterious and wholly grounded nature, and connection to all facets of the web of life.
