In nature, hedgerows are the wild, fertile spaces where magic happens. These living boundaries become sanctuaries - places where wild beings thrive, where life unfurls in abundance,
where deep roots grow.
Your creativity deserves such a sanctuary.
Being part of the Hedgerow community has made a huge difference to my everyday life as an artist. The support not only from Natalie but also from other members has made it so much easier to establish a daily drawing routine. The tutorials and workshops are varied and personal wishes are catered for wherever possible. I have learned more here in 2 months than in the years before and the community is actually more like a big loving family that I really enjoy being a part of.
~Emma
Hedgerow is a gentle, inclusive community and learning space
for humans wanting to connect to their creativity, to each other, and to the wild world through making beautiful art.
We focus on deep observation, reverence, reciprocity and lifting each other up as we study and artistically render realistic wildlife.
Hedgerow is empowering, easeful, and enchanting.
In Hedgerow, you will thrive.
Imagine feeling like this:
You open your sketchbook with quiet confidence, knowing that your creativity is worth this time, this space, this devotion.
No more hesitation at the blank page - just curiosity and anticipation for what might unfurl.
You sit down with your sketchbook and feel completely present, immersed in creative flow.
As you honour the wild being you're studying through your art, you feel more grounded, more alive, and more calm than you could have imagined possible.
You're scrolling through wildlife reference photos and find one that takes your breath away.
Instead of doubt, you feel excitement - because you know you have the tools, skills, and creative courage to bring that wild being to life through your art.
Best of all? You're no longer walking this path alone. You've found your creative home - a community of fellow wild-hearted artists who understand, support, and celebrate every step of your journey.
This isn't just a dream.
This is what's possible inside Hedgerow.
If you are an artist who has put artwork on a back burner or are needing some encouragement, think about joining Hedgerow.
Hedgerow is led by Natalie Eslick, whose art is exquisite and whose heart is even more exquisiter! She has a deep respect for all the creatures of the Earth and encourages the artists here to make a deeper connection with the beings whose images we create on paper or canvas.
Natalie provides clear and useful tutorial videos, pdfs, and reference photos. She is always available to answer questions and regularly communicates in the community forum. Here you will find a warm and generous group of artists at all levels who will support your own growth as an artist.

You'll never fall behind, because there is no behind.
There's only your own perfect path, supported by a community that celebrates every step.
Hi, I’m Natalie
I am here to help you find your way to your own
wild art (and wild heart).
I spend my days painting (and drawing the wild), thinking about the wild, writing about the wild, and encouraging others to do the same.
This is where my wild heart had been telling me for years I needed to be, and now I get to help you find your own way to that place in your wild heart too.
I have been teaching art classes for over 5 years, but in the last two years, I realised I needed to go deeper. To talk about the joys and challenges of being a creative, and to celebrate the different ways that can look for each of us. To normalise fears and frustrations as a part of the creative journey, but to empower with mindset shifts to help creatives move forward with curiosity, compassion and courage.
And to help foster a deep and meaningful connection to wildlife and the wild world we are a part of (not apart from).
Every day, I witness the magic that happens when wild-hearted artists find their creative home.
When they're supported, encouraged, and celebrated, their art blooms in ways they never imagined possible.
This is what Hedgerow offers - not just tutorials and techniques, but a sanctuary for your artistic spirit to truly flourish.

The Hedgerow
The wild liminal space,
the place to see
between the worlds,
look into the eyes
of our wild kin
and see ourselves
reflected
in their eyes,
feel our hearts
beat
in rhythms of theirs,
hear our voices
echoed
in their songs and calls.
The wild liminal space
the place to perceive
and explore
reality more profoundly
where the tamed and untamed meet
at intersection between
this world
and any other you can
feel, perceive, or dare
to imagine.
At the wild liminal space,
ride the hedge
to new insights, bring them back
for yourself and others,
feed on the rich
wild fruits of creative endeavour,
draw in shades of grey,
in the pigments of everything,
put brush to colours
mediated by water, acrylic, oil,
raise your hand and engage
with paper and canvas,
and in so doing partake
the wild, imaginal medicine
to heal tortured the soul,
to mend the fragmented spirit,
to repair the aching body
of the self and the world.

My commitment to you
I will always cheer you on, and support and empower you on your creative journey however I can.
I will help you work towards your goals and move along your path to become the artist you want to be.
I will also honour your humanness, the struggles and stretches we go through, and the tiny wins we get to celebrate with so much love.
I can’t do the hard work for you, but I will be walking alongside you with so much encouragement and guidance and unwavering belief in you and your work.
What you get
I could put prices next to all of these items to try and convince
you of their value, but if you have taken any of my classes or
free challenges, you know that providing more than expected
value is one of my core, well, values.
Truly, my greatest desire is to help empower more people to see the wild, to see their creativity, and to provide connection to their wild heart's desire to be an artist that shares beauty with the world.
I honestly think that it is in these small rebellious acts of prioritising self care through creativity and forming deep and wondrous connections to the rest of our wild kin that we change the world.
Incrementally, personally, but profoundly.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
It is for everyone! The content will be accessible for all levels, from beginner on, and will help you move forward on your path from right where you are right now
-
Not everyone uses Facebook anymore, and it can be a noisy and intrusive place. Our community is in an app called Geneva which is available to use on desktop/laptop, and on both Android and Apple devices. It is private and gentle and easy to navigate, and I think you will love it!
.
-
You take the content at the pace of you, but with the live workshop (which is also recorded) and the mini mindset moments, and an occasional pop-up tutorial, I would guess about 4 hours a month. But I also want to encourage you to show up for your creative practice whenever you can - even if it is just 10 to 15 minutes a day. It all adds up! (And hey, 10 minutes a day adds up to 4 hours a month anyway!)
-
Absolutely! Anything I run live will be recorded for you to be able to watch at a time that suits you. We are very much an international community here, and while I will move the live workshop times around to try and give access to everyone at different times, I know that being based in Australia makes that particularly hard. Plus I know not everyone is confident enough to get on a zoom either - I will always make sure you have access to everything
-
You can cancel your membership at any time via your account settings, and you will have access to the content until the date of your next scheduled payment (monthly or yearly). I don’t offer refunds because of the digital nature of the membership and that you have access to everything right away. But I would never want you to be unhappy - so if in the first 7 days after you subscribe you feel Hedgerow is not for you, send me an email and we will work out how best to move forward together. If your financial or life circumstances change, please also email me and we can talk about options.

The Wild Sketchbook is an intensive, contained experience that covers sooo much information. That is why when you pay for it once, you get to take it over and over again when I run it live. It contains everything you need to know to supercharge your creative practice in a compassionate and curious way, and covers six deep mindset and self-care concepts, has huge workbooks, and covers five different drawing and painting mediums. Hedgerow is much slower paced, though just as gentle-human-paced-focused and supportive as The Wild Sketchbook.
I think of Hedgerow as a place to take respite in, to breathe deeply, and move slowly and intentionally. It is the perfect space to continue your journey between live sessions of The Wild Sketchbook, or indeed help you get to a place where you know that the next level of creative encouragement and support is where you want to be next time it is open. Hedgerow is where we get to be connected all year round, and where I can continue to support your growth and wonderful human beingness. They work together symbiotically, but also independently - neither is a prerequisite for the other.
-
Only in so far as it is sketching and sketchbook focused. In Hedgerow we dive deeper and slower into sketching and the mindset work around being a curious, compassionate creative. There is also the community aspect, and live workshops, which differ from DTW
