Where I live summer can feel very long. For someone like me who thrives in cooler weather, and wilts in temperatures much above 23 degrees C, it feels very long indeed. Having been born here, I am used to a hot holiday season, that is just the way it has always been. And while I have always looked rather longingly at beautiful northern hemisphere winter christmases, the thought of snow, wood fires, beanies and mittens at this time of year feels so foreign.
Today though, after a week of higher temperatures (though not the full on temps we will get in January and sometimes February. So today, my mind is back in June of this year, our winter, in cool alpine wildernesses, enjoying air that chills noses and cheeks and tastes sweet and clean.
